This may sound like an easy thing to do and it probably is. However, not everything comes easy to everyone.
If you are trying to measure for ordering carpet or enough wood to complete the project, you need to accurately measure the deck.
Basically you should measure from the front of the deck (the carpet goes under the aluminum trim at the edge) to the back of the boat. If your boat has the motor set into the back, you must make sure you measure as far back as the carpet goes. The motor area will be cut out from the total length of carpet. When lying carpet, you want to use a single piece from front to back with no seams.
Most pontoon boats are 8' wide, however, occasionally I run into some that are 8'6" wide and can present a problem in finding the right size carpet. There was a time when boat manufacturers were making pontoon boats wider than 8'. I believe the trend is now going back to the standard 8'. This will make it difficult to obtain carpet that comes 8'6" wide. Carpet manufacturers are only going to make carpet that the boat manufacturers are using. If you need 8'6" carpet, good luck. |
